A court in Leeds has been told how vile halal slaughtermen chanted and performed a tribal-style dance as they joyously hacked at the throats of sheep. The poor animals who were still conscious were strung up alive as they bled out at the abattoir, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
Kabeer Hussain, 44, and Kazam Hussein, 55 (pictured above) were caught on film taunting the animals, waving knives in front of them punching them and balling at them. This was done as a result of secret filming by the charity Animal Aid and has resulted in potential legislation being passed that will see CCTV installed in all abbatoirs.
According to prosecutors William Woodward "simply turned a blind eye to the animals’ welfare at his slaughterhouse". The sheep in the footage were seen stumbling around with their throats cut as the two men danced around and chanted ritualistically.
Woodward the abbatoir boss was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail.
