With tensions in the Conservative Party over Brexit reaching boiling point it has been revealed that a group of anti- Corbyn Labour MP's from the Blairite wing of the party are ready to launch a new political party. It is understood that these Labour MP's are unhappy with Jeremy Corbyn's stance on Russia and this is a watershed moment for them.
Political insiders have revealed the proposals for new pro-European centrist party named Start Again have been widely diebated within cross-party meetings on Brexit and that Corbyn's response to the Russian attack has seen plans speeded up. A source present at several of the meetings told a quality Sunday broadsheet that Umunna had suggested the combined pro-EU activists in Britain are a force to be reckoned with if brought under the same roof.
The Leak said: “I have heard him on three occasions, in groups of 10 people or more, mention the fact that if you put together the memberships of the pro-European movements you would have something bigger than the Labour Party. Start Again is the working title.”
Chuka Umunna, Chris Leslie, Wirral South MP Alison McGovern and Tory Anna Soubry meet each Wednesday and the expectations are it will be launched soon with other Labour MP's and also Liberal Democrats on board. There has been a great deal of talk about a new "centrist" party for some time now and that Tony Blair is behind the scenes pulling the strings and this might just be it all coming to fruition now.
