Do you enjoy a day at the races? Well you shouldn't according to remarks made by the Chief Executive of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Nick Rust. Rust was speaking at an awards dinner for the Godolphin Stud and Stable staff when he used the opportunity to launch a tirade at the lack of diversity in the sport.
Rust criticised the winners of the awards as not being ethnically diverse enough and that the sport needs to embrace a more multi-cultural audience or it will wither away over the years: “We need to look at what lies behind this and ensure far better representation across the various minority groups in future years.” Those at the event said they thought it was highly inappropriate and that it spoiled an otherwise enjoyable evening bringing politics into it.
