There are debates on both sides. Both for and against and yes we should listen to what they have to say as we do live in a democratic society.
Voting age should be lowered to the age of 16 years old due to the fact that they are able and more treated like adults. Such as they are given more responsibility to choose the future for their lives whether planning on what schools to go to. It can also means that they are going to college or may be a tax payer and so should have the rights to say in what they want to see changed in there country which they call home. There’s arguments such as they should be allowed as they are mature and old enough to have sex and so should they not have the right in their child future. They may also wish to get married and the same question applies if they are trusted to do these things then surely they can vote.
They should be able to influence key decisions that affect their lives. As we know politicians make decisions and so we should be able to vote for those who are best to see fit. Young people’s concerns are the following: tuition fees, living wage and youth service cuts. Are more commonly ignored nowadays by politicians and influencers as they act like little children in a Nursery. Even Scotland allows their young youths to be able to vote at the age of 17 and 16 which is proven very well and large voter turnouts. While in the United Kingdom we know it’s very low due to the fact that the electorates don’t trust their MP. They’ve never done anything for them. Time consuming and they aren’t represented and so feels their vote and voice don’t count. Well we need to show it does by voting for UKIP the only party who wants to improve the country.
Back in 2017 it was reportedly that 1.5 million 16 and 17 year olds are too young to vote. Yet they pay taxes. Surely, this is appealing. I wish I could vote so I can support my party and so I can just have a say who represents me in Parliament.” Where some feel that the voting age should be lowered to 16 – the same age at which you can legally marry, have sex, and enter the armed forces in most of the UK, others think that 18 is still too young an age at which individuals can start voting in elections. Instead, some argue that people should be given the vote in their twenties, once they've gained some life experience, are paying taxes, and can think independently” very true you can join the army. But, pointing out that everyone still immature could possibly come under Equality Act 2010 which they should not discriminate against age and come under this context. Yes there may be kids who still mess around but then adults aren’t always sensible so it’s a bit biased. Or could it possibly be that the authorities don’t want to give the power as they know there be out of their seats and no longer hold safe seats in their constituency. “Back in 2004, the Electoral Commission – the independent body in charge of running and monitoring local and general elections – ran an in-depth study into whether the voting age in Britain should be lowered to 16 or kept at 18.
Their results showed that the majority of those surveyed wanted the voting age to stay at 18. That most countries also set the voting age at 18, and that arriving at a single definition of ‘maturity’ is difficult, bolstered the argument for retaining 18 as the age of electoral majority.
In 2004, the EC said it would be reviewing voting ages again in five to seven years ‒ so the time to renew the debate will surely soon be ripe…”
They keep mentioning ‘maturity’ yet the MP in House of Commons do not act mature and in fact acts as children in a playground.
People are against the votes at 16 as it will and more power to the youth in which the council don’t want to see happening as they know more children’s will get into politics which means they be more energetic and eager to please and make a difference to their communities and resolved the problem. Proven that authorities have become more ignorant against young people and are increasing taking away there rights such as voting. However, some will say that there’s too much violence. Here’s some comments regarding the right to vote:
“At 16 years of age you are able to marry, pay taxes, and leave home. You can legally have sex, which implies it is the age at which the Government deems you old enough to become a parent. If you are deemed old enough to become a parent, get married and contribute to the treasury, then you should be deemed old enough to decide who makes the policies that so greatly affect your life” Anon
“16 year olds are just as wise and politically-aware as 18 year olds” Anon
“A 16 year old can pay tax or be sent to fight for their country, but they are currently refused the right to vote for the politicians who can decide how to spend their taxes, or send them off to war” Andrew, Merseyside
“Funnily enough I campaigned for the voting age to be lowered years ago. I think that it gives youngsters more of an investment in what's happening. However, I also think voting should be compulsory as it is in other countries, for example Australia” Nicy W, Dartford
“Apathy is the biggest problem facing the UK political system. Engaging people in decision-making at a younger age would help improve this” Anon
“I believe that the 16 year-olds that would vote would be a self-selecting, politically interested minority who would add real value to the political discourse” Dan F, Edinburgh
“Not particularly passionate about it but I can understand that some 16 and 17 year-olds really want to and are just as informed as older adults (in some cases more so), so let them vote. Most people who vote haven't got a clue about politics anyway” Jon C, Coventry”
This is a poem by one of our supporters Andrew Jackson:
I am British
And I’m proud of it!
And I don’t want to be dictated to
By those undemocractic imbeciles
That rule the EU.
Their future is not mine
Their follies are not mine
I am British
And I shall determine my own future
And not be ruled by a power
That takes my country’s money
And then denies me the right
To decide who shall enter my country
I am British
And I will not allow the EU
To deprive me of my Britishness
Nor of my British traditions
I am British
And proud of it!
So, its goodbye to the EU
And its cheers for Brexit!
According to his Wikipedia entry the MP Dominic Grieve has a net worth of £3.1 million pounds. His biggest donors to date have been from 'The Conservative Friends of Pakistan'. He was educated at a French School in London the Magdalen College in Oxford, has properties in France and has been in receipt of the Legion of Honour from France.
Grieve has of course been a vocal opponent of the democratic decision to leave the European Union and this week he is proposing an amendment that will allow Parliament to 'take control' of the Brexit process. The leaked amendment is as follows:
PROPOSED AMENDMENT 1 TO SECTION 13(6) MOTION
As an Amendment to the Motion tabled for the purposes of section 13(6) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2017
Leave out from “House” to end and insert “believes that [INSERT DECLARATORY WORDS RELATING TO NEED TO PREVENT NO DEAL BREXIT), and orders accordingly that — (1) On [DATE OF SUBSEQUENT SITTING DAY TO BE INSERTED] —
(a) Standing Order No. 14(1) (which provides that government business shall have precedence at every sitting sa. as provided in that order) shall (subject to paragraph (e)) not apply;
(b) a Motion in connection with the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union in the name of at least 300 Members of the House elected to the House as members of at least five parties and including at least 10 Members elected to the House as members of the party in Government shall stand as the first item of business;
(c) that motion may be proceeded with at any hour though opposed, shall not be interrupted at the moment of interruption, and, if under discussion when business is postponed under the provisions of any standing order, may be returned, though opposed, after the interruption of business; and Standing Order No. 41A (Deferred divisions) will not apply;
(d) at the conclusion of debate on that motion, the questions necessary to dispose of proceedings on that motion (including for the purposes of Standing Order No. 36(2) (questions to be put following closure of debate)) shall include the questions on any amendments selected by the Speaker which may then be moved; and
(e) but if no motion which meets the requirements of paragraph (b) is tabled by 6.00 pm on [DATE PRIOR TO INTENDED DATE OF DEBATE), the provisions of paragraphs (a) to (d) shall not apply”
Firstly a huge thanks to everyone who has signed the open letter to Anna Soubry calling out her blatant hypocrisy. We have had 11,000 people endorse the letter and you can read all about it by Clicking Here. We have sent the letter to all the main national newspapers as well.
Meanwhile our petition against Illegal Immigration has also received a whopping 53,000 signatures and we will be corresponding with The Home Secretary shortly demanding that he enforces the law of the land!
Right now there is a feeling of what can we do and it is extremely frustrating but our assessment of the situation is that whilst we in the know understand what is happening it is still to fully filter through to the masses. As it stands we are due by law to leave the EU on the 29th of March with WTO terms but it is our assessment that this will neither happen or be allowed. Our news site Unity News wrote about Philip Hammond's treacherous attempts to stop a 'No- Deal' and he really is a disgrace the office he holds.
If and when Article 50 is extended this will be the moment that people fully realise the true scale of what is taking place and we will campaign ourselves and wholeheartedly get behind the Yellow Vest Movement in peaceful but firm action. This Saturday we are helping co-ordinate a Yellow Vest Twitter & Facebook storm so we are encouraging as many people as possible to upload pictures of themselves wearing Yellow Vests to Facebook, adding a Yellow Vest Twibbon on Twitter and most importantly of all using the #YellowVestsUK everywhere.
David Clews, the Founder of UK Unity & Unity News Network, today hosted the North of England Correspondent for The Guardian Newspaper at his home. David was interviewed and photographed in connection with the growth and success we have experienced through Unity News Network as one of the fastest growing alternative news outlets in the UK. David discussed what we stand for and his plans for future growth. Alas we will see what is printed and when it comes out we will be sure to send it on!
All we ever hear is how the young people of Britain are all very liberal and pro-EU and we all know this couldn't be further from the truth. As a progressive and forward thinking campaign we are delighted to announce that Lee Sibley of Stroud in Gloucestershire is coming on board as the Director of Dynamic Social Media. What really impressed us about Lee was his passion for the Countryside, his knowledge of politics and drive to make Britain a free and sovereign nation once more.
Lee is 16 years old and studies business at Gloucestershire College. He has amassed an incredible Twitter following of 23,000 people, as you can see above, with his positive messages in support of Brexit. Lee is going to be communicating with people using Gab, Instagram, Snapchat & Twitter on behalf of UK Unity. If you want to e-mail Lee with any thoughts or suggestions please get him on email@example.com and keep an eye out for more to come in terms of reaching more of our young people.
We are preparing for all eventualities within the Unity Movement and that includes the potential of either a General Election or dare we say it a second referendum. Between our Facebook & Twitter Pages we have over 180,000 followers as well as 40,000 registered supporters amassed in just over 1 year. With a small, hungry, growing and dynamic team we stand ready to be a grassroots voice for hope in the UK both now and in the future.
As ever a huge thanks to all our members, donors and those who visit our online shop. We have no large financial backers and rely on grassroots funding. To host a professional campaign with all the software that it entails is pretty substantial and all donations we receive goes to fund the campaign itself. Donations can be made by Clicking Here.
Any questions, thoughts or feedback then please let us know.
The Unity Team
Many of our members and supporters have been in touch to say that they are sick and tired of the smears and rhetoric aimed at them from Anna Soubry, the remain establishment and the mainstream media. They feel that they are using their substantial platform to not only demonise people for exercising their democratic rights but to try and overturn the results of the EU Referendum in 2016.
To that end we have written an open letter to Ms Soubry and others and we are asking for people to add their name to this letter and you can do so by clicking the link at the bottom of the letter?
Firstly we would like to say we write this letter in the spirit of good faith, openness and tolerance of opinions. We at UK Unity are a grassroots movement with over 35,000 supporters representing people from all walks of life, backgrounds, races, nationalities & sexualities. The one thing we all have in common is that on the 23rd of June we proudly voted to leave the European Union in the largest electoral mandate the UK has ever witnessed.
Both during the referendum and even more so since there has been a drive to demonise us leave voters as poorly educated, unsure of the facts and xenophobic. In the last few weeks both you and others have gone one step further in somehow insinuating that Brexit voters are 'far-right'. For the purposes of clarity we do not think you are a Nazi but what we do feel is that you are able to freely use inappropriate words to engage in a campaign of guilt by association of Brexit voters whilst not being prepared to accept criticism yourself.
Wanting to control immigration and cut immigration is a platform that you were elected on as a Conservative Party MP. Likewise you were also elected on a party manifesto that clearly stated it would implement the will of the people with regards exiting the EU. On the same day that you were met outside Parliament Owen Jones was also videoed issuing slurs. The term 'Gammon' which is a racially charged term and is grossly offensive is used greatly by those on the remain side and we ask why is this tolerated?
We the undersigned are asking 3 things of you and the remain campaign in general:
1- Tone down your own language and rhetoric before seeking to smear others
2- Respect the fact that you were elected on a manifesto pledge to Leave the European Union
3- Accept the fact the Referendum of 2016 was a once in a lifetime opportunity and the result stands
If you are unable to do so we the undersigned would politely suggest that you should resign as both a member of the Conservative Party and Member of Parliament for Broxtowe.
Firstly the above poster van has been doing the rounds of Westminster and was commissioned by one of our supporters. As a totally non-party group we are not saying back UKIP (I appreciate a huge number of you are) but we feel that this message is bang on. So many of you that I speak to are absolutely disgusted with the Conservative Party and the way they have handled not only Brexit but their utter failure to curb immigration and their full support of Political Correctness. They are no longer fit for purpose and unless they reform drastically they will be out of Government for a long time to come.
Meanwhile the remain establishment and mainstream media are completely unhinged and absolutely out of control. What we witnessed last week was a sickening and concerted attempt to shut down the right of free speech and to question our politicians. Not only that but as part of a grand scheme of plans they are attempting to smear 17.4 million as racists and far right whilst attempted to destroy the Yellow Vest movement in its infancy. So firstly I am going to show you a quote and ask where you think it is from?
"Britain cannot accommodate all the people of the world who want to come here – and should not give special exemptions for people rich enough to buy the services of organised smugglers. Securing our national borders is a prime function for government."
If you were to ask Anna Soubry or David Lammy they would say the BNP or National Front but in fact the quote is actually from The Communist Party of Great Britain- Marxist Leninist in an article here!Read more
In a stunning intervention Corbyn has come out to support the UK Yellow Vests after he retweeted an article by Unity News Network and said that they ROCK! Alas it is a shame that Piers Corbyn's younger brother has not intervened to do the same!
Piers Corbyn is a former Labour Councillor who still rails against austerity and inequality but unlike Jeremy he appears to be far more in tune with the working classes of this country after previously calling for a full WTO Brexit!
Peaceful & Respectful protests are what makes us British. The Yellow Vest is now a global symbol of the silent majority of decent hard- working people across the world. It is so important that whatever we do remain courteous, respectful and dignified at all times. We are the silent majority who have had enough.
On Saturday the 19th of January we are arranging this so that everyone across Britain can play their part by turning the internet Yellow!
Everyone is encouraged to put on a yellow vest and change their profile pictures on Facebook and share across social media such as Twitter & Instagram using the #YellowVestsUK to get it Trending.
We encourage families to get involved and take your pictures wherever you are and send them to us on firstname.lastname@example.org you don't even need to leave your house to take part and we even welcome solidarity from all over the world!
So who can take part? Anyone who shares our values of openness and tolerance but is sick and tired of the Government and its betrayal of the British People. We believe in Brexit and building a better for future for all the people of this country. We believe in controlling our borders and the rule of law. We believe in properly funding our public services and making work pay. This is what the silent majority believe and we all stand together in Unity.
